So I'm a bit late in getting to this one - we went to Glasgow a good month or so ago. Luke had just gotten back from Australia (where he spent 2 months on an offshore oil rig set up ship) so he's a bit beardy in most of these photos. Don't worry though, I made him shave as soon as we were back from Glasgow.
The first day there Luke and I basically spent the day finding the hotel, and then wandering (and to be honest, napping) in the extensive Kelvingrove gardens nearby. Gorgeous gorgeous day, and just lovely to be outside. You can see pictures here of Luke and I wandering in town, 2 pictures from inside the gardens, and one of Luke standing outside the gardens. The building you can see here is the Kelvingrove museum - there was an organist playing in there and it sounded amazing.
The first evening we were there we met up with Ang and headed out for dinner. We found a cool Japanese restaurant with multicoloured rainbow lighting inside and dinner platter samplers that were DELICIOUS!
You know I cant actually remember if the building with the high mirrored decoration was the town hall or a museum of some kind. We basically just stopped to take a photo of the front cos it was pretty spiffy, and of the statue in front that had a witches hat on its head. Cool.
The day we were there we were lucky enough to see a military parade, with young and old alike, accompanied by bagpipes and kilts.
There was lots to see in Glasgow, all you had to do was look up. I really like the room that's on the corner of the building below.
These photos are from the glasgow necropolis. Really cool views over the city (it's at the top of a big hill), both the nice parts and the industrial parts of it. Lots of family vaults as well as your regular tombstones. Plenty of gothic and creepy designs about.
These three photos below are from wandering around Glasgow town. Really pretty buildings in all of the older areas, but along the river Clyde there's an interesting clash of old and new. I really like the photo below where you can see the old church reflected in the glass building next door. Lots of cool footbridges too, really atmospheric.
This last picture - this was a statue comemmorating a brave woman. I can't remember who she was or what she did though. I like the statue, that's all.
And that was the second day. On the sunday we had to high-tail it to the airport to get our flight back to Bournemouth - so convenient being flown straight home!! And that was glasgow. Will be back to Scotland (but not to Glasgow) in 2 weeks for a 2 week holiday roadtrip!
